What Lies Within:
the Eclectic Collections of
Andrea M. Noel
Who doesn't collect something?
What causes that urge? Maybe to
relive and preserve our childhood or
revisit a memory, and keep the past living
in our present. They also help ease our
insecurities and anxieties from loss.
Fading Memories
Our past, present, and future are intimately linked by our memories. Memories hold important knowledge about our lives and our personal attributes and traits; through mental time travel, memory can also directly transport us into past as well as into the future, to the person we are yet to become.
What We Keep
The passing of a loved one is a life moment everyone is forced to face and walk through in their own way. A person dies and items of their existence remain. This process is often emotionally and physically overwhelming and taxing.
Life Revisited
Inherited vintage photographs, eclectic bits of family lore, Mother’s stories propel my photo montage work. It is my way of preserving these images for a bit longer, bringing them back to life as in an imaginative tale.
Animal Lives Redux
My love of animals and how they have been a constant element tell a story in my layered photo process.
Woman of a Certain Age
The dictionary says "a certain age" is a phrase "used to avoid saying that a person, usually a woman,
is no longer young but is not yet old"
Painterly
I began my artistic journey as a painter and this medium gives me an infinite palette to work with while exploring my creativity.
Second Portrait
Hand Coloured Montages
Photos of people that had been discarded or had no family left to preserve them is sad to me. This prompted me to want to give these people a new beginning, a second life.
After the colorization process is finished I seal it with two layers of cold wax.
Working on.....
New work that I have taken while
on workshop retreats which I find is my most inspirational time with my camera. Not sure what I will do with these. I just wanted to share them
for now.
