Painterly

A painterly affect in a photograph requires two main components in post

production, using textures to emulate canvas or cloth and textures that mimic

brushstrokes.  Using these techniques transforms the original photograph to an

image that are characterized by qualities of a painting.

My artistic journey began as a painter. However, the medium of photography gives

me an infinite palette to explore my creativity. Painterly photography is like a dance

between painting and photography. Sometimes I create images using a collage of

my photographs and then applying textures until my vision is achieved. The finished

image is not only my interpretation of the photograph but a way of transforming

the photograph into a story.
